Today is my "little" sister's university graduation. Since I couldn't be there to celebrate, I thought I would dedicate today's funny to her!

Today's Friday Funny is breaking all the rules. There's nothing literary about it (except for the fact that it's a TV sitcom clip, which means someone WROTE the script, which I GUESS makes it's literary... kind of... but I wouldn't make the "TV is Literature" argument in school, kids).

This just seemed like a great way to share my good news with my blog followers... (Who I'm sure mostly follow me on Facebook and Twitter anyway, so you probably already know, but I don't care. I'm too excited and sharing again, anyway).

Milestone Alert: 2000 Page Views

I'm a celebrator. I like to celebrate silly milestones. For example, I was recently devastated to discover that I missed my car hitting the 150,000 km mark.  Seriously, I had been monitoring the odometer for weeks.  I was so close. 149,968... 149,987... Then one day, I wasn't behind the wheel. And it slipped my mind. Next thing I knew: 150,013... 13 kms. Just missed it. Crushing defeat ensued.

But I wasn't going to miss this one. I've been monitoring my blog stats like a crazy woman the past few days, several times a day. And today was my lucky day! I caught the 2000th page view. My only wish is that I could  know who it was. So if you viewed my blog at about 2:30pm EST, let me know! There's no prize or anything... But you can certainly make my day!

Every milestone needs a celebration. My 1000th page view got one and so this one will too!

If you follow me closely, and have checked out my Bookshelf, you'd know that I'm a big enjoyer of GoodReads. It has excellent book ratings, discussions, and a fun feature called "Listopia." I love lists. So, I turned to one such list as my source of celebration.

Of course, I read through the entire list and wanted to share the books I've read and their rankings (in brackets) on the GoodReads list:

And here is a brief analysis of what I've learned from this:
1. I've read entirely too much youth and young adult fiction.
2. I've read nearly the entire Top 10. Books I'm missing:
- The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini (#2)
- A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini (#9)
- Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen (#10) --- I should add that this book IS on my must-read list. Although that is partly due to the fact that I'm dying to see the movie, largely because R.Patz is in it, in which case I ask you to review my #1 lesson learned from this celebratory evaluation.
3. The inclusion of Vampire Academy on this list at all is incredibly shocking, let alone in such a middle of the road position. Don't get me wrong, I loved the whole series (See #1), but I'm starting to think the voters of this list are from a much younger demographic.
4. Finally, there is SO MUCH out there left for me to read. And we're already getting well into the next decade. I better get to reading!

998, 999 ... 1,000!

My past two weekends have been extraordinarily busy.

A stag and doe, birthday party, engagement party, Baptism, 1st Communion, 50th anniversary party, and bridal shower. Plus my sister, soon-to-be brother-in-law, and nephew were in town for the week. That left few opportunities for me to just sit down and write, read, or wreck my journal.  I managed to squeeze in a bit of time for that kind of stuff, but mostly it was about a week and a half of being constantly on the move.

Needless to say, I'm really enjoying my first afternoon alone, in nearly 2 weeks, just sitting in the backyard with my laptop and a book.

But then, imagine my excitement when I logged in to Blogger and saw that over this past weekend my blog officially hit a milestone: 1,000 views!

Coincidentally, at the bridal shower on Sunday (the final hurrah in a 2 week long marathon of events), I brought home this book as a prize for winning one of those silly shower games:

Maybe to celebrate my 1,000+ views I'll bake something yummy.
